On the Appeal

The Appeal emerged from conversations among researchers across disciplines and continents who share a common concern: science must be better supported on its mission to contribute to human and planetary wellbeing. It was drafted in 2026 by a working group convened in Chișinău, Moldova, with the support of the International Science Council.

The Appeal is stewarded by a small editorial team, which verifies signatures, maintains the public register and responds to queries.
